Five9 Interns’ Habitat for Humanity Philanthropy Event
The Five9 summer internship program operates under the motto, “Do Great Things,” and our interns demonstrated their greatness during their first philanthropy event with Habitat for Humanity!
Through this event, 44 of our interns participated in creating 5 playhouses in partnership with Habitat for Humanity’s Playhouse Program. The Playhouse Program provides volunteers with a meaningful, creative, and hands-on day of building playhouses that are donated to local children. The funds collected through sponsoring a playhouse support the Habitat for Humanity mission through funding homes, communities, and hope.
The interns had the opportunity to visit the Five9 office and were divided into teams to build and design five playhouses. Each team collaborated to create the playhouses, building relationships with each other while supporting Habitat for Humanity’s mission.
“There was something special about spending hours working with people on a project and, in the end, seeing it fully completed with each person having contributed something meaningful,” said Britney Pham, a 2022 Five9 Integrated Marketing Intern.
Five9’s Talent Acquisition Team hosted this event to provide all interns with the opportunity to engage with their peers, boost morale, and contribute to Five9’s corporate social responsibility. These factors all contribute to the core pillars of Five9’s internship program: Learn, Grow, and Contribute. Not only are these core values evident in the Five9 culture, but many interns felt as though they were connected to their contributions to Habitat for Humanity. The efforts accomplished at this event were fulfilling to the interns in many ways.
“I resonate[d] with the core pillar of growth most [during this event]. It connects to this event because we all played a role in a very impactful project that will provide something great to these kids,” said Kevork Hill, a 2022 Five9 Content Strategy Intern.
Calvin Atkins, a 2022 Marketing Analyst Intern, added, “[It was rewarding] knowing that building a playhouse not only brings happiness to a child in need, but also the fact that we are fundraising for actual houses to be built and for Habitat for Humanity to be able to do what they do best.”
Interns also expressed their excitement about meeting and connecting with their fellow interns in person, building connections, and working together on such a meaningful project. The event allowed interns to collaborate with those who they may have never met or worked with before. Interns also had the opportunity to socialize at a group dinner at the end of the day to celebrate their hard work. The mission of the program and the value of this experience provided for an excellent shared experience for interns all over the country.
“The whole day was a blast. I loved meeting all the other interns in person and getting to start working on a project together that was not work-related,” said Yvette Goslawski, a 2022 Five9 TAM Services Intern.
