Celebrating Pride Month and Cultivating Inclusive Workplaces

As June unfolds, rainbow flags wave high, and vibrant celebrations mark the start of Pride Month worldwide. It's a time to honor the LGBTQ+ community's rich history, acknowledge the ongoing struggle for equality, and celebrate the diverse identities that enrich our society. At Five9, Pride is a month of celebration, not only for its symbolic value but also for the chance to foster a workplace where everyone feels valued and respected. 

Five9 Culture

Central to our inclusive ethos is Pride@Five9, Five9’s Employee Resource Group (ERG) dedicated to celebrating and supporting LGBTQ+ employees and allies. This lively community provides a platform for advocacy, education, and celebration. 

Since its genesis in 2020, the ERG has hosted events that cover educational topics as well as events that offer a chance to get away from our day jobs with simple, downright fun. In 2020, we got together with our partners at Zendesk for recurring virtual movie nights. During the COVID pandemic, this time for relaxation and togetherness was much needed. In 2021, we hosted A Parent’s Perspective, an intimate discussion with Five9 parents of LGBTQ+ youth, covering everything from the coming out process to what it's like having a queer child today. In 2022 we hosted Effective Allyship, highlighting what it takes to be a champion for your LGTBQ+ friends and workmates. Ultimately, Pride@Five9 exists to rejoice in the differences and unique qualities each Five9 employee has. It’s so much fun. 

Advocacy

The importance of June Pride extends far beyond colorful parades and festivities. The month is a reminder of the ongoing journey toward equality and acceptance. It underscores the significance of creating safe and supportive spaces where everyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, can thrive. This year, Pride@Five9 is supporting PFLAG, an organization at the forefront of LGBTQ+ advocacy and education. PFLAG's mission to support, educate, and advocate for LGBTQ+ individuals and their families resonates deeply with Five9's values.  

To amplify our support, we invite you to join us in pledging to this wonderful organization. Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a meaningful difference in advancing LGBTQ+ rights and fostering inclusive communities.
